Evidence Storage for Schenectady Police Department

The City of Schenectady in New York is in the middle of economic growth, and as the city has grown, so has its police department.

With this growth and the everyday need to collect and store evidence and property, the Schenectady Police Department set out to find a long-term solution. The Police Department instituted a bar code system for all of its property and evidence. To build on this system and its current storage facility, the Department needed help in the planning, development, and installation of a comprehensive storage system.

We worked with the client to transform a training room into a viable, secure evidence storage area. The station had been using static shelving and boxes stored on the floor.

A new MobileTrak® e5 Powered System was installed, giving the staff the ability to access the inventory quickly and easily with a simple touch of a button. Electronic keypad controls allow the powered carriages to move simultaneously or individually, depending on their needs.

Storage capacity in the room was maximized by utilizing 121-¼”-high 4Post™ shelving uprights. This custom height option optimized every inch of available space, both vertically and horizontally.

Evidence storage is no longer a problem for the Department, as this complete storage solution accommodates evidence box storage, hanging bag storage for weapons, and bulk shelving with doors for narcotics.
